The Panama News is an English-language newspaper that has been covering events in Panama since 1994. Every two weeks we summarize the important news and business stories, and also cover a wide variety of the social, cultural and economic aspects of life on the isthmus. We are owned and produced by Panamanian citizens. Our policy is to report the facts objectively, without a political slant, leaving it to the readers to form their own opinions about the news.

Our opinion pages include different ideas from the diverse mix that is Panama’s English-speaking community.
We have the most comprehensive calendar of events published in Panama, one that includes everything from the tide tables that are so important to yachters and fishers to Panama City’s vibrant music, theater and sports scenes. In our online version our calendar is on a one and one-half month cycle, so that people abroad can use it to plan their vacations in Panama.

Some 60 percent of our print edition’s readers live in the capital city, the rest in Colon and the interior. Most of those who read our new Internet version live in the United States and have ties to Panama.

About 60 percent of our print edition’s readers use English as a second language. Included in this group are not only those Panamanians who were educated at US universities, but also the international business community, of many nationalities, who use English as the common business language. The 40 percent of our readers who use English as a first language come from Panama’s large American community, its even larger West Indian community, and also include the British, Canadian and other English-speaking peoples resident on the isthmus.

Our online version’s readership is almost entirely composed of people who use English as a first language. It is the only Panamanian news medium that reaches people who are interested in Panama in the English language, and thus offers ways to reach potential visitors that the other papers don’t.

The Panama News online version is published by the Sun Publishing Corporation, a Panamanian company, and is edited by Eric Jackson, a dual Panamanian and US citizen. We serve Panama's large English-speaking community and readers abroad who are interested in Panama.  We are independent of all government institutions and political parties, in whatever country. This newspaper, in both its print and online editions, is brought to you courtesy of our advertisers.
