World Press Photo Contest

The international jury of the 44th annual World Press Photo Contest has selected as World Press Photo of the Year 2000 a color picture by the US freelance photographer Lara Jo Regan. Her picture, taken for Life magazine in March, shows a mother and her children in their home in Texas — Americans who do not exist in the official records of the US population.
