Briefly...

Koster to read from his new novel

R. M. Koster, a Florida State University English professor and without question the most successful and prolific of Panama's English-language writers for many years, has written a new novel, "Glass Mountain.." At 7:30 pm on May 23 in the FSU-Panama auditorium, in La Boca below the Bridge of the Americas, Koster will read from his new book. The event is open to the public.

ISP to stage classic witch hunt drama

The International School of Panama’s High School Drama department will be performing a classic American play, The Crucible, written by Arthur Miller. The story is based on the Salem Witch Trials of 1690’s. The setting created here is a timeless account of the events leading up to the moral distrust of one society and its citizens. The play will be performed at the Ancon Theater Guild, June 1st and 2nd at 8pm, and June 3rd at 4pm. Ticket prices are $5 for students and $10 for adults.

Theatre Guild closes season with jazz

The last production of the 2000-2001 season at the Theatre Guild of Ancon is not in the nature of a theatrical production. The Guild also presents the occasional highbrow musical event, and thus Panama's outstanding jazz keyboard player and band leader Dino Nugent is making his return to the Ancon Theater on June 16, at 8 pm, this time at the head of the Dino Nugent Trio.
