In the background, we get a partly obstructed view of a modern new US Navy destroyer recently calling in Panama. The setting is the Port of Cristobal's Pier 10, and that might be a problem in certain US political circles. The port is run by Hong Kong-based Hutchison Whampoa, which some members of Congress and other American critics allege is a front for the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
