Panama News Books distributing Alvarado's children's book
On the book side of our business, Panama News Books is now distributing
Patricia Alvarado's 1999 children's book, "Ben's Brigade." Alvarado, who used
to teach at Balboa High School, is a writer, artist and photographer, and president
of Panama's chapter of the National League of American Pen Women. Readers of
our Fun section may know her as the editor of Sparky the Wonder Dog's "It's
a Dog's Life" columns.
"Ben's Brigade," published in 1999 by Minerva Press, is a 66-page
illustrated paperback about Stevie, whose problems moving to another school
are complicated by a bully named Hank Feldman. Taking a page from American history,
Stevie leads 12 boys and a girl in a playground revolution that dethrones "King
Hank." The book's illustrations are by Matt Walsh.
"Ben's Brigade" is available from Panama News Books for $7, which
includes postage.
