This weekend, we had planned to open our 52nd season with Bill Gonzalez's
brilliant new production of "DINNER WITH FRIENDS" a Pulitzer-Prize
winning play about friendships in the age of divorce. Unfortunately, one of
the four actors, Tod Robberson, a prize-winning journalist for the Dallas
Morning News, was sent last Friday to the Middle East to report for the next
several weeks on the U.S. retaliation to the sad events in New York and Washington.
The Theatre Guild Board of Governors along with Mr. Gonzalez have decided
to reschedule the opening and post-performance reception for THURSDAY, OCTOBER
11, with performances on OCTOBER 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20. All shows begin
at 8 p.m. Tickets for opening night will be $12 and $6 for children and students
(with valid ID cards) and jubilados. Tickets for subsequent performances will
be $10 and $5 respectively. Season tickets or "Memberships" will
also be available for a flat fee of $30 for single memberships and $60 for
a family of two adults and up to three children. There will be no special
offer of jubilado or student membership rates this year. Membership includes
tickets to ALL Guild performances, including the Christmas play.
At the Guild this year, we are working very hard not only to continue our
long tradition of great English-language entertainment, but also making some
improvements to the theater, including the installation of new carpeting in
the public areas. I hope you will bear with us and mark your calendars with
these date changes. We need your understanding in these tough times. So we
hope to see you all in October and please spread the word!
