You may know him best as the frontman for the Electric Spiders from Mars
way back when, or more currently as probably the richest rock musician, but
it's best to recall his reminder, to all of us, that we could be heroes. Anyway,

Campaign
for Access to Essential Medicine
Paris-based Doctors Without Borders (MSF, by its French initials) began this
campaign before the anthrax scare made a lot of people in the developed countries
think about whether the drugs they need will be available when the epidemic
sweeps through. For many people in many places, this issue isn't just an esoteric
terror. As MSF points out, part of the problem is that even in rich countries
medicines for rare diseases, or ailments related to poverty, are not profitable
enough to prompt the profit-based pharmaceutical industry to work on cures or
treatments.

New Seven Wonders of
the World Society
This page, published in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Russian,
Chinese and Japanese, is first of all to promote the cause of preserving historical,
cultural and architectural landmarks. They're also conducting an international
poll aimed at identifying the seven most outstanding landmarks of the Common
Era. Alas, the Panama Canal is not on the ballot.
