That blasted time called THE NEW YEAR is here, and the night sky is framed in fireworks. I can't eat, I can't sleep, and I dare not venture forth for fear of my life. Every boy and his father are setting roman candles to make Nero proud. It's worse than the 4th of July, Sparky. I would be okay if my master would let me sleep inside, but no way. All I can do is hide under the bench on the patio and whimper. It'll take me a month to get over the shivers. What do you advise?
Trembling in Takoma
Dear Trembling,
What can I say? Humans like noise - the louder the better. Have you ever listened to what they lovingly call music? Is it any wonder that we howl? If you're feeling extra daring, try howling with the explosions. If not, you'll just have to bear with it. Stay close to home, and keep your head covered. What you can't see may not hurt you.
