Those who won't be intimidated

On March 7, the Inter-American Human Rights Commission was in Panama to investigate the phenomenon of politicians trying to intimidate journalists by filing criminal defamation or disrespect charges against them. The following is the list of reporters, columnists, cartoonists, editors, publishers and electronic media journalists or talk show hosts who currently face criminal charges in Panama for what they said, wrote, drew, edited, published or broadcast. The charge is most usually calumnia e injuria (criminal defamation), which can carry a four-year prison term. This list includes about one-third of Panama's journalists.
