Beginners' Yiddish Dictionary
Before the Holocaust and Israel's revival of Hebrew, Yiddish, a dialect of German written in the Hebrew alphabet, was far and away the principal specifically Jewish language. Yiddish is, along with Aramaic, the medium in which much of Judaism's greatest literature was written. Yiddish lives, and this site will help to keep it from becoming a dead language.
