The story begins as Kris Kringle, an old man in a retirement home, gets a job working as Santa for Macys department store in New York City. A single mother and her young daughter befriend the old man who insisting that he is the true Santa Claus. Kris is immediately under suspicion by the staff doctor at Macys, who plots to have Kris locked up in the Bellvue Psychiatric Hospital. On Christmas Eve, Kris finds himself suddenly on trial for his sanity and especially at stake is one girls belief in Santa Claus.
In a dramatic decision, the court confirms that Kris is the true Santa, allowing countless children to experience the joy of childhood fantasy.
