A morning stroll through Parque Omar
Photos by Eric Jackson
During the dictatorship, the former golf course at Altos de Golf was nationalized, and turned into the flagship of Panama City's urban park system. The park has taken on various names as political winds have shifted, but today it's called Parque Omar, after General Omar Torrijos.
There's a lot of public art in this park, of many genres. These photos, which are but a tiny sampler of what's there to see, were taken on a morning visit during a recent holiday weekend. Maybe we will return at a different hour on another day, when light conditions are better to photograph the murals and some of the other works.
