Lessons in Assertiveness

Tricks Are For Kids
Dear Dr. Mutt,
I've had it with humans and their Pavlovian theory! I am a wolf from the Yukon. I was captured, literally lured away from my mother with a piece of salami by some human scientists when I was just a pup, and I have lived under the light of experimentation ever since.
But enough is enough! To quote my favorite French philosopher Albert Canine, "Je refuse!" No longer will I salivate at the sound of a bell just for a cookie! And if I must jump through hoops, I expect worker's compensation! In fact, everyone should unite in the B.O.W.W.O.W. (Bark Out Wildly With Other Wolves) effort to liberate all canines from human bondage! Bark if you know what's good for you!
Thanks, Dr. Mutt. I just needed to vent.
Nettled in Novgorod
Dear Nettled,
How did you get from the Yukon to Novgorod? Just wondering.
Anyway, I agree with you that we should not denigrate ourselves for cookies or peanuts or anything of the sort. We must be proud of being Canine. Serving humanity, however, is part of the price we pay to make the world a better place. What's a cookie here or there if you don't compromise your integrity?
Just remember that we can do what they can do but better, but they don't need to know that. It's sufficient that we know.
Peace,
Sparky
