Still time to visit the Niña

Made in Brazil from old Spanish plans, the Niña is an approximate reproduction of one of the ships which the Arawak residents of San Salvador --- probably Watling Island in the Bahamas --- discovered off their beach that October day in 1492.

The ship whose remains have been found near Nombre de Dios is also, like this one, a Spanish caraval.

The Niña will be at the Flamenco Island Marina and open to visitors through January 2. The ship makes the rounds of North America and the Caribbean, so if you live along the East, West, Gulf or Great Lakes coast in the United States or Canada you may be able to visit this vessel in your hometown.
