Ancon Hill, after a belated
rainstorm

As polluted as Panama City can be, ours
is a rare capital city with forests and even wilderness areas
within. Of course, there are those whose notion of progress is
to pave all such places. Meanwhile, however, scenes like these
persist on Ancon Hill. These photos were taken on April 9, just
after Panama City's first decent rainstorm after a prolonged
dry season. Unfortunately for canal operations and the city
water supply, the shower did not seem to be the start of a
regular rainy season. Photos by Eric Jackson
