Panama Jazz Festival coming in September



Panama International Jazz Festival
ATLAPA, September 4-7


The National Centennial Commission, IPAT, the Fundacion Violeta por el Arte and the organizers of Panama: Cultural Capital of the Americas will be putting on the nation's first international jazz festival this September 4 - 7 at ATLAPA's Teatro Anayansi. It's a benefit for the Proyecto Bolivar programs in the Casco Viejo.

The event's MC and artistic director will be renowned Panamanian jazz pianist Danilo Pérez, the international coordinator will be Robin Tomchin and Arlene Lachman and Carmen Alemán of the Galeria Arteconsult will be in charge of production.

Among the acts that will be playing at the festival are the Danilo Pérez Trio, the Kenny Barron Trio, the Steve Turre Quartet, the Mike Stern Band, the Regina Carter Group, Fidel Morales and Grupo Nega, Dino Nugent & his friends and Barbara Wilson and Jazz Effects.
