Partying for the local public school
Dino Barkema, a Panagringo retiree living in El Volcan, was born in Lajamina, Los Santos and freuqently visits his aunt who still lives there. (That's him in the straw hat below.) The community's public school was in need of plumbing an a new roof, so they held a big fundraising party and Dino pitched in through the Viviendo en Panama email group. Putting the word out on the net attracted more than a dozen Americans to the party, plus money and in-kind contributions from within and outside Panama. The community will get the school repairs they set out to finance.
