I write in response to the person "name withheld" who complained about the "City of Knowledge" renting 2 and 3 bedroom houses under price.

I suggest you go and have a detailed look at the places and then go and have a look at what you can get in the city for LESS.

You will find very quickly, that we pay actually a PREMIUM to be in the AREA. The quality of the houses is definitely not worth the rent.

Taxis are very expensive here and the bus is so far away you can start to count in MILES!

You think their prices destroy the real estate market?

Where are you living "Name withheld"-person? Ever heared the word market --- supply and demand?

IF the prices where so below value, then why are more than 70% of the family houses (in the City of Knowledge) EMPTY? According to you there should be queues of people, just waiting to pay a PREMIUM to get to move into one of the houses. Two- to three-bedroom places do NOT make a good research station or school or university --- they make a good single family home, that's all. Actually "City of Knowledge" should LOWER their price to fill the rest of their family homes, maybe then they start to break even on this part of the "city." It costs them quite a bit to keep the houses in the lousy conditions they are. Even if they would rent them just at cost, at least someone would take care of the houses and they would not lose money on it!

But if you think they do not charge enough, I guess they won't argue if you want to pay more than they ask for!!
