Lessons in Assertiveness

Wet Behind the Ears
Dear Dr. Mutt,
I'm four months old. I'm black and brown with a white patch on my chest, I have big paws, and my tail is longer than my legs. The master says I look like Victor Immature because one of my ears sticks up, and the garbage man said I bark like the girl down the street! What's wrong with me? Am I normal?
Dear Worried,
It sounds to me like you're descended from a long line of ancient street dogs and have inherited some of their best traits. Big paws are good for standing solidly, and a long tail lets you signal your emotions.
Consider yourself lucky that one of your ears sticks up. That allows for better hearing and gives you a debonair look. Victor Mature, in case you don't know, was a movie star with an intriguing eyebrow! So take your master's nickname as a compliment.
As for the girly bark, don't worry. You're young still, and with a bit of practice that should change in a few months, so be of good cheer.
