Two groups worthy of notice
Two worthy parts of Panama's
English-speaking community
This, briefly, is a tale about how one worthy institution has been used to promote another, the main point of which is to inform the readers of both groups' existence and provide ways to contact them.
It began with the posting of the following message about Alcoholics Anonymous through the Viviendo en Panama email discussion list:

And what of the medium?
Melodye Taylor, who lives in Volcan, started the Viviendo en Panama list, which despite its name is an English-speaking forum, to answer questions about living in Panama for people who are new down here or who are considering a move to our little corner of paradise. The group is some 700 members strong. You sign up by going to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/viviendo_en_panama/.
The Viviendo en Panama group and its online archives constitute an invaluable resource for today's and tomorrow's English-speaking community on the isthmus. This is not a Canal Zone nostalgia list, nor is it amenable to "sure thing get rich quick" appeals to "qualified investors." Despite occasional flame-outs and threads that stray far from the point (both of which phenomena Melodye strongly discourages), it has avoided being trashed by zealots and trolls.
