Parading and canvassing through Perejil

Perejil, where The Panama News office is located, is a working and lower middle class district that's shaping up as a major electoral battleground. Judging by the signs and flags on people's balconies, it would seem to be a PRD stronghold, with the neighborhood's substantial Muslim population very solidly in the Torrijos camp. But talking to people you find many residents, particularly of the older generations, quietly but fervently backing Guillermo Endara. Here and there you find an actual Mireyista, but the few Arnulfista Party signs are for candidates for lower offices. The minor parties have virtually no visible presence here.
On a recent Thursday afternoon, Guillermo Endara and his supporters came parading through the neighborhood, as shown in the photo above. About an hour later, the young woman shown below came quietly canvassing for the PRD down the same street.
