Scenes from a truly huge campaign rally
by Eric Jackson
It may be true that the three kids sitting atop a bus hood at the massive April 28 Torrijos rally in and around Plaza Cinco de Mayo are too young to vote. However, the mothers of school-aged kids, especially if their children are in the public schools, have many good reasons to be displeased with the way our government had handled education issues over the past five year and that led a lot of them to vote for Martín Torrijos.

For historical reasons --- most of all due to Dr. Arnulfo Arias's legacy of racism --- the PRD always does well among black voters.

The Torrijos crowd was confident and enthusiastic.

But within it were a lot of working people who came to hear what the candidate had to say, rather than to cheer and wave flags.
