So why isn't the following item, which is in Spanish, published in our Spanish section instead of our English-language Community section? It may be at some point in the near future.

However, seeing as how so much of Panama's English-speaking community is bilingual, and how so many of readers of The Panama News who don't speak Spanish well are trying to improve their second language skills, and seeing the value of the La Carta de Panama email list, which is mostly in Spanish but contains some English-language features, the editor thought it worthwhile to publish the following Spanish-language subscription form in this section.

La Carta's founder and editor, Juan Manuel Handal, is a retired business executive, the man who more or less founded Panama's reinsurance industry. He has some very interesting circles of friends and some noteworthy children as well.

La Carta de Panama will send you a daily summary of the main Spanish-language daily newspaper stories, which is probably the list's biggest attraction for readers outside of Panama. It is also a forum for some lively and usually intelligent discussions, jokes that range from the mild to the completely outrageous. You can pick and choose among the features you do or do not want to receive in your subscription form.

What you should do to subscribe is copy the following form, fill it in with your responses to the questions, paste it as the text of an email message and send it to Juan Manuel at c-panama@lacarta.info.
