Lessons in Assertiveness

Seven up & seven down
Dear Dr. Mutt,
I'm a new mother, and I am beside myself with joy and consternation! When my time came, I was thrilled to see seven cuddly little bundles. They were so cute. All they did was wiggle and eat. But now they're all over the place! They won't listen when I call them, and I can't keep track of them because they're all the same color! Yesterday they got out of the box and dug up the flower bed, and to make matters worse, they pooped all over the driveway. The master was furious. I heard him mumbling something about calling the pound. What can I do to make them behave?
Dear Distressed,
Take it easy. As a new mother you have enough to worry about. Your master was just upset about the mess. Surely, he won't call the pound. Most humans like to make a fuss about things. He'll calm down. As for making the pups behave, that's another matter entirely. They're just doing what puppies do --- dig, poop and chew. They grow up eventually. I just hope your master buys lots of bones or has iron patio furniture.
Congratulations and good luck,
