The Anona Kirkland Writing Contest Awards Ceremony
Tuesday, August 10, 6:30 pm
Excedra Books
Anona Kirkland, who for many years was a reporter and columnist for the old Star & Herald, is the dean of English-language journalism in Panama and is celebrating her 100th birthday. The National League of American Pen Women, Panama's English-language organization for women practicing in the arts and letters, will be honoring Anona at the awards ceremony for this year's writing contest.
Although the NLAPW is a women's organization, its writing contests are open to men, women, boys and girls and the group frequently crosses gender lines to promote the Panamanian cultural scene in general and this country's English-language writers in particular. The awards ceremony is open to the general public without regard to gender.
For more information about this event or the NLAPW in general, contact the chapter by email at penchicks@yahoo.com.
