Dear Dr. Mutt,

When I was real little my mom told me I was the spittin' image of my dad --- a great pit bull with sort of a combination Winston Churchill - W.C. Fields look. In fact, everybody calls me W.C., and I have always been proud of this.

But the other day when my master and I were strolling through the park, somebody called me ugly. That wouldn't have been so bad except that my master agreed with him. He said, "Yeah, W.C. is just about the ugliest dog in the world!" And then he laughed!

I'm so depressed I don't want to go to the park anymore, and I feel like biting my master! If I had a tail, it would be permanently between my legs.

What can I do? Am I normal?

Yes, you're normal, and just because a couple of lame-brained humans can't appreciate the beauty in the beast, this doesn't mean you're ugly.

You're named after two great humans, a great statesman and a great actor.

And their looks never hindered them, so take heart and be proud of yourself. And forgive your master for he knows not of what he speaks!
