The Thin Yellow Line
Dear Dr. Mutt,
Yesterday my master fussed at me, but I can't figure out why. We were on our daily run, and I was in the lead as usual. All of a sudden I spotted my friend Bear across the street so I dashed off to say hello. When I came back, my master made me sit. He shook his finger at me and shouted something about being crazy and crossing a yellow line. What's this all about? I only went to say hello to my friend. Then I came back. What's the big deal?
Dear Clueless,
You don't say how old you are, but by your actions it's obvious you're probably still quite young; and if you continue to streak across the road like that, you may not get much older. Your master is trying to teach you how to be careful while crossing the street. The yellow line that he referred to divides the road for two-way automobile traffic, which can be very dangerous to all pedestrians including quadrupeds such as ourselves. Your master obviously loves you very much. Take heed and don't go dashing off like that. Be a good dog.
