What will it be today?
photos by Eric Jackson
There's an amazing variety of seafood available at the Mercado de Mariscos on Avenida Balboa in Panama City. Actually, it's more than just seafood, as tilapia filets from Bayano Lake and other fresh water fish are also sold there.
So what's it going to be? Fish, like maybe some corvina or a massive red snapper? Or will it be langostinos, crabs, octopus, squid or oysters? Or...?
At lunchtime --- around the time these photos were taken --- lines form at the ceviche vendors' stalls on the main floor. And at this place, buying your fresh preference of the catch of the day and taking it upstairs to have the folks at the restaurant prepare it for you is also a possibility.
