Dear Dr. Mutt,

My name's Bear, and I'm terribly upset with my master. My yard mates, Fula and Bubba and I used to have the run of the neighborhood, and sometimes our buddy Roof Dog, who lives on the roof across the street, would come down and play with us. We'd run and roll and dog around, and on occasion chase a motorcycle; and one time we even chased a jogger! But all that's changed now that my master built this big fence. All we can do is run along the edge back and forth. It's extremely frustrating, especially for a guy like me. I'm short and have to stand up to see over the edge. Fula and Bubba are getting on my nerves, too. I'd dig out, but the bottom of the fence is made of cement. Got any ideas on how to break out?

Frustrated behind the fence

Dear Frustrated,

You and your buddies are suffering from a common canine malady called Car Chaser Calamity, and though it's not necessarily fatal, it can be, especially if you have access to the street. Unfortunately, the cure for this sickness has some serious side-effects such as Freaky Fence Foibles and Buddy Burn-out. Your master seems like a serious human, and unless you can convince him to let you out once in a while, I'm afraid you're stuck behind bars. By the way, I'm just curious. Did the jogger get away?
