Free access to latest information for health workers in Panama

Health workers in Panama can now enjoy free online access to the journals of the BMJ Publishing Group as part of the HINARI Initiative.

HINARI (Health Internetwork Access to Research Initiative) is a voluntary partnership between the World Health Organisation and 28 commercial publishers to provide free or very low cost access to health information to institutions in the developing world.

Access to over 2,000 of the world's leading medical and scientific journals is now available via HINARI, enabling developing countries to see vital scientific information that they otherwise could not afford.

Ruth Staunton, Marketing Manager at BMJ Publishing Group said: "For years, health workers in the developing world have had very limited access to international journals. By extending free access to the 113 countries on the HINARI list, we hope to improve information flow and encourage more countries to become equal participants in the global debate on health."

Access is via the HINARI portal at http://www.healthinternetwork.org or through http://www.bmjjournals.com.
