The Panama Junior Actors Club --- PANJAC --- opened its doors April 7th, and invites all parents and future members to join the club and learn about theatre. Any young person who has an interest in learning about theatre --- one of life's greatest entertainment pleasures, or parent/guardian who feels their young family member will benefit from the way the course brings personal confidence and development is welcome to come along. Hopeful students must initially visit with a parent or guardian and find out what these twice weekly theatre workshops can offer.

Each Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. there will be workshop courses running to teach anyone with an interest in Theatre Arts, about all aspects of theatre life.

PANJAC is offering a two part complete "Theatre Familiarization" training workshop course in English for young people from 11 to 18 years.

The courses covering Acting, Directing, Producing, Technical Lighting and Sound, Back stage management, Set Design, Set Decoration, Props and Costume management, Theatre Management, Voice production etc., will be provided during a 9-week Part One --- April to June --- range of theatre workshops resulting in a PANJAC certification of "Theatre expertise" and a one night full participation performance before the mid season two month break.

This is followed in August to October by Part Two, where Students successfully completing part one will be invited to join the second 16-week more practical part where they will select, design, produce, rehearse and present a full professional play lasting for three or four performances in early November. This will qualify them for their final PANJAC certification of "Practical Theatre Expertise"

The courses are suitable for anyone between and including the qualifying ages and are managed and tutored by Vernon Skitt, a person with 30 years experience in all aspects of theatre life and other guest theatre associates from time to time.

The workshops are aimed to give the young people a complete knowledge of working theatre to enable and prepare them to consider Theatre, Film or Television as a career or simply provide them with a healthy part time hobby in their future years. Whatever their interests the courses provide each person with a greater confidence to meet life's challenges.

The Theatre Guild of Ancon is kindly sponsoring the venue for these workshops and will host the six days of productions planned.

The workshop membership will be initially limited to 25 young people during this first year of operation so be sure to get there early on our opening session to ensure your young family member is not disappointed.

Each workshop session will be supervised by a minimum of two people including a volunteer parent/guardian.
