Graphic by Datarealm The Panama News broke its record for visits --- the 43,229 entries onto our side depicted by yellow bars on the upper right-hand graph --- but these visitors came from slightly fewer unique sites (the orange bars on the same graph) than was the case in November and May of last year. We also broke our previous record for hits (the green bars on the larger graph at the right) by a small margin. So what does it all mean? Basically, despite increasing competition by various old and new Panama-oriented publications going online, The Panama News is holding its own as the most popular English-language news site about Panama. Of the private websites from Panama and about Panama, only Nancy Hanna's Panamainfo.com, which is mostly a compendium of small business websites, consistently draws more visitors that this website does. The electronic attacks and disruptive computer crash of late February and March probably affected the figures shown in the above chart. Between US Memorial Day and American Labor Day, our readership figures should be expected to fall as they do every year at that time, but when one considers each month as compared to the same month in the previous year we are, have been and expect to be steadily growing. Alone among Panama's news media, The Panama News regularly and accurately publishes its download statistics. Those who are interested in more complete details, whether they be potential advertisers or even the competition, can obtain these by asking the editor for them.
