Lessons in Assertiveness

On line
Dear Dr.
Mutt,
I was
adopted to be a patrol dog and my job, though mundane
and routine, at least allowed me to roam the area around
the house. Well the other day, the master tore down the
fence in what the mistress calls a beautification
project. Now I've been leashed to the clothesline, and
my territory is limited to a four-meter run back and
forth. It's driving me crazy, especially when my leash
gets tangled with a clothespin. What can I do? I want to
break loose!
Leashed
in Longview
Dear
Leashed,
Vengeance
is not ours, but it does make one wonder sometimes at
how humans would react if they were leashed to a
four-meter clothesline and forced to literally live
their lives on line. We can only hope that your
situation is truly temporary, and indeed your master and
mistress will rebuild the fence quickly so that you can
soon be free to exercise and perform your duties in a
dignified fashion. I will forward a copy of your letter
to the S.P.C.A. There are some humans who care about our
plight. Life is short and so is your leash!
