The Panama News breaks most of its circulation records, again

Yep, busted them again. The records for kilobytes and pages remained standing, but all other readership records for this publication fell in May. The number we have always considered most important, visits, is visible in the upper right-hand graph in the yellow bars. We got 44,864 of those. The orange bars on that same graph are "unique sites" that show the number of different computers from which The Panama News was read, and that stands at just over 32,000. Hits? Those are the dot-com hustlers' favorite numbers because they are always bigger and are thus useful to bandy about to potential advertisers who know little about the Internet. And indeed, 518,123 hits is a much bigger number than 44,864 visits, just like a nickel coin is physically bigger than a dime.

Anyone who wants the more detailed figures that The Panama News gets from its web server can have them by asking. Our little contribution to the war against juega vivo and the media and ad agencies that play it is our transparency. The Panama News is the only Panamanian news medium that regularly and truthfully publishes the figures that let advertisers know how many people it reaches. Which is just one of the reasons for all the venom from the mainstream corporate media and the more than a decade-long ad agency boycott of The Panama News.

If you want to get your message to the people we reach at a reasonable price, this is the place to do it. But if you want to pay a much higher price to curry favor with those with illustrious surnames or political connections so that people who won't deal honestly with you can put on pompous displays of wealth and get kickbacks from the media to whom they funnel advertising whether or not those are best for their customers, go to the big ad agencies.
