Sparky the Wonder Dog
Poets' corner: Shooting down a come
Shooting a Comet
by Diego Santiago
Dad, I got me a comet,
On my very first shot
Good hunting my son,
That’s a nice one ya got.
The season just started,
There’s plenty to go.
Can we get them all mounted
And put on a show?
They used to bring warnings
And fill us with dread,
Now when you hunt them
Don’t forget to wear red.
More comets are lined up
And just waiting in Heaven
There’s plenty more shells
At the 7-11.
Is our side winning,
Who’s keeping score?
It doesn’t much matter
Don’t tell Michael Moore.
The one thing left
That’s not understood
Is how to fit that damn thing
On the front of our hood.
