Young American volunteers lend a hand for Panama

On July 28 the Peace Corps swore in 32 new volunteers in a ceremony at the Interoceanic Canal Museum in Casco Viejo. They brought the Peace Corps strength in Panama up to 124 people, and will be deployed in Bocas del Toro, Chiriqui, Cocle, Colon, Los Santos, Panama and Veraguas provinces, and in the Ngobe-Bugle Comarca that overlaps parts of Veraguas, Chiriqui and Bocas. For the most part the volunteers will be dedicated to educational outreach programs, whether in agricultural or small business development for adults or in Ministry of Education settings.
