Bruderhof Peace Barn
On September 11, 2001 United Airlines Flight
93, whose passengers’ resistance prevented the plane on which they were
flying from being used by its hijackers as a missile against a building,
crashed in a field in Pennsylvania, killing all souls aboard. That field happened to be near a school run
by the pacifist Bruderhof Foundation. The Bruderhof folks built a peace barn
as a memorial, so that the relatives of the deceased who kept coming to the
open field with flowers, and curious people in general, would have a fit
place to pay their respects.
