Smash! Crunch! There went The Panama News readership records...

This publication, unlike other Panamanian media, periodically publishes the numbers that indicate how many people it reaches --- whether the news is favorable or disappointing to us. It's a matter of fundamental transparency for advertisers, a rejection of the juega vivo that we get from the partisan-aligned and rabiblanco media and their Siamese twin the ad cartel, and of keeping faith with the readers. Upon request we will provide all the data we get from our web server, Datarealm, to anyone who asks (including competitors).

And the news for us at the moment is good. In September we sailed out of our annual summertime readership dip full speed ahead, breaking all of our previous records except for kilobytes. As in an average of 1628 visits per day, with 48,867 visits from 35,514 unique sites over the month. As in 122,426 page views, 440,717 files called up and 576,444 hits. We fell short of breaking the kilobytes record because last June's general strike generated a lot of photos and some long stories and unusually high readership for a usually slow month of June.
