Bay, A Tourist View
by Diego
Santiago
You can watch
The ships come
into the bay
And feel the
ocean slap up its spray,
And taste the
salt
And imagine
the day,
When Everyone
Entered the
country this way.
It is as it
was and has always been
A ship will
leave and
A ship will
come in.
So many were
here
From so many
places,
Large Spanish
ships
And fierce
pirate faces
And people
from France
With the usual
graces.
Equipment and
armies
And great
enterprise,
All happened
right here
In front of
your eyes.
There were
bands that played anthems
And popular
songs.
They brought
their own cultures
And their
families along-
There were men
running about in Victorian suits,
And women in
white,
Eating
tropical fruits.
The shouts and
the laughter
The curses and
yells
The saga began
here
As tradition
now tells.
Where can we
see this?
Is there a map
to the way?
There is no
instruction, I’m sorry to say.
Stand behind
the casino they build yesterday?
Not that one,
but That one
Right next to
the bay
