The Panama News reader survey

This survey taken of our readers is confidential. We will not try to individually identify those who respond or allow anyone else to do so. None of the responding emails will be given to any other person or institution, or kept for more than a few weeks by The Panama News. Responses to this survey will only be used to:

1) Help this online newspaper better serve the needs and desires of its readers;

2) Enable The Panama News to tell advertisers and potential advertisers the general demographic profile of the people whom we reach; and

3) Provide a readership reference point for the student interns who occasionally work for The Panama News.

We will run this survey for several issues, compile the data that readers provide and then delete all of the email responses.

Things about The Panama News:

Do you read the Spanish section of The Panama News?

What parts of The Panama News do you always read?

What parts of The Panama News do you never read?

What do you like the most about The Panama News?

What do you dislike the most about The Panama News?

What would you like to see included in The Panama News that is not now included?

Do you believe that the news coverage in The Panama News is truthful?

Do you believe that the news coverage in The Panama News is fair?

Do you ever rely on information in The Panama News to make decisions in your working or personal life?

The Panama News uses a peculiar style of language and punctuation (three hyphens in a dash instead of two, not capitalizing headlines other than the first word and proper names, use of Spanish words that are commonly used in English-language conversations on the isthmus without italicization, using accents in people’s names but not in place names, and so on). Do you find these differences from American Standard English writing styles annoying?

The Panama News is considering turning its Spanish section into a publication run by Panamanian university students. Do you think that would be a good idea?

Do you use any of the links buttons to other websites?

Do you listen to music when you read The Panama News?

Do you think that the type size of The Panama News ought to change, and if so, how?

Send your answers to: editor@thepanamanews.com

THANK YOU!
