Requests for help, mixed reviews on quality issues

Pitch in for kids’ Christmas

Christmas is coming and we are planning two Christmas parties for the children in Teca and Machuga in the Interior of Panama. We would appreciate any children's gift that you could contribute.

In Teca there 30 children. There are 18 boys and 16 girls. There are several girls between nine and 12. The boys are younger. The boys would love cars, boats, balls and games. For the younger children, stuffed animals and rattles.

In Machuga, there are 45 children, 24 young girls (1-5) and 21 boys the same age of the girls. They would love balls and games for very small children. They also love jumping ropes.

If you can help, please respond. We will pick up the gifts!

Many thanks,

Please write in complete sentences.

I'm a Zonian that finds your articles very interesting but, I have a problem with your run on sentences and incomplete sentences. Most of all you jump from one subject to another; at times never finishing your thought. As a Panamanian I would appreciate it if you address these small problems. I do believe that you have many good points to make and you should express them but, please take in to consideration that many of your readers are not necessarily unfamiliar with the English language. It pains me to read articles by Panamanians written for the consumption of an English reader that is hard to follow. Please do keep up the good work.

Dalia K.

Example: The other day, when I went (to) cover FBI director Robert S. Mueller III's press conference with Attorney General Ana Matilde Gómez, two things impressed me.

Editor’s note: The last issue had a worse error rate than usual, and it’s problematic in any case that I tend to have nobody editing or correcting the mistakes in my work. When you pointed out this particular error I corrected it. Volunteer proofreaders, which you effectively were in this instance, do a great deal to  improve the quality of The Panama News.

Likes the new music buttons feature

I thank you for part of an article in the latest "The Panama News" where you indicated that there are radio links on the bottom of the opening page. I went there and found a link to my ole Grad School classic radio station, KUSC, out of the University of Southern California.  I have been running it ever since, it is also good to hear words about my old home town of L.A.

My house servant has never had so much classic music around in his life, culture advances again.

You don't know how an article may bless someone’s day.

Keep it up.
