Audubon Christmas Bird Count
Rainy season nears its end
Garden scene

Rosabel Miró, the compiler for the Pacific Audubon Christmas Bird Count, checks out the morning's birds before sending participants out for the afternoon to pick up missing species. The objective of the count is to record every bird seen by the participants in 24 hours in a count circle 15 miles in diameter. Christmas Bird Counts are conducted by the National Audubon Society in the United States, and last year had 56,123 participants in 2022 count circles throughout the Western Hemisphere. The Panama Audubon Society has participated in Christmas Bird Counts every year for 36 years.  Still to come are the Central, Atlantic, and Volcan counts. Photo by Karl Kaufmann
