On February 13 the government unveiled the restored Casa Rosada, sometimes also known as the Presidencia Chiquita, in the capital's Casco Viejo district. The house was built in 1912 as the residence for Florencio Arosemena, who later became president only to be deposed from office when Arnulfo Arias put a gun to his head on January 2, 1931. The rehabilitation work was done in part by student volunteers and also in part by convict labor. The building will now house eight families and a print shop.
