Dear Dr. Mutt, My master built a spiral staircase to the roof of the house, and the view by day is spectacular. Since I don’t suffer from vertigo, I routinely do my rounds up there, and everything was going great until last week. The night was hot and moonless, and I lay stretched out on the tin. All of a sudden, I heard a strange noise down below and raced to the edge of the roof to investigate, but someone left a squeaky toy, and I tripped on it. Then the cat howled and I flew over the edge. The vet says I’m a lucky dog. If it hadn’t been for the bushes, it could have a lot worse. I blame the cat. What do you say? Plastered in Prestwich Dear Plastered,If the cat did plant the toy there on purpose just to trip you up, there’s no way to prove it; and besides, it’s not healthy to hold grudges. Did the vet say how long you will have to wear the cast? Hope you’re up and about soon.
