Outside Job

Dear Dr. Mutt,

Someone broke into the garbage bin and spewed garbage all over the yard! The master thinks I did it because once when I was little, I tore open the trash. But I’m not guilty! I learned my lesson a long time ago. How can I convince him?

Dear Suspected,

You probably cannot convince your master that you are innocent. For some reason, once we commit a misdemeanor, we are branded as incorrigible and incapable of earning redemption, and we are always under suspicion. So unless your master threatened you with expulsion or confinement, try not to worry about it. Just stay away from the cans.
