Our capital would lose much of its charm for residents and visitors alike, but the American millionaire tourists whom President Torrijos is trying to attract are of the imitation vanilla cultured variety who don't appreciate this sort of thing anyway. But some of us will mourn the passing of this part of Panama's urban way of life. Bus art has in any case been threatened for many years, due to economic forces that make it hard to make a living driving a bus, which also mean that decoration and basic maintenance tend to be cut back.
