Note that Panamanian right-handed relief pitcher Manuel Corpas has been brought up to play for the Colorado Rockies. In his first outing he went one inning, giving up a solo homer and striking out two batters.


And what about the All Star Game, which featured two Panamanians, Yankees closer Mariano Rivera and Brewers slugger Carlos Lee? The game actually ended with a confrontation between these two players. With two outs in the ninth and a runner on second base, Rivera got Lee out on a pop fly, earning his third All Star Game save in the process.
