Holding steady in the

slow summer season

The Panama News readership was up slightly in some categories, down slightly in others, but generally steady from June to July. We had a little more than 71,000 visits last month.

Our online readership, like many other English-language websites and like on North American television, has its slow months in June, July, August and December. People on vacation don't get in front of video screens as frequently as those who are not on vacation, so it seems. These figures from last month, however, represent a substantial increase over July of last year.

The Panama News periodically publishes its readership figures as it gets them from its web server. Not that such things make any difference to the folks at the ad cartel and the mainstream media with whom they maintain incestuous relationships, but ordinary business owners who seek to publicize their products or services in an economical way to the sorts of folks who read The Panama News may just find that it is the cost-effective medium to reach a valued group of potential customers. People can ask for and receive further details, with enough candor that we won't try to con you into buying an ad if we know that we don't reach the people you want to reach. In the long run, good value and transparency ought to be more valuable to competitive businesses than the pleasure of buying some ad agency owner's kid a BMW.
