Clarification about "Audubon" and

the Red Frog Beach Club Phase II

In the environmental impact study for the Red Frog Beach Club Phase II, now before the National Environmental Authority and subject to scrutiny by the general public, it is stated that the proposed golf course received an approval or certification by the "Sociedad Audubon International." It also mentions "Audubon Certification." It is also published on the promoter's website that the golf course will receive the approval of "the Audubon Society."

It is necessary to clarify that despite all appearances, the "Audubon" to which they refer is not the Audubon Society of Panama nor the recognized conservation organization the National Audubon Society of the United States.

Neither the Audubon Society of Panama nor the National Audubon Society have ties with the Red Frog Beach Club project, nor with the US company that calls itself Audubon International, which is in reality the company that offered consulting and environmental certification services to Pillar Panama, the promoters of Red Frog Beach Club.

We deplore the fact that both the project's promoter, Pillar Panama, and the company that prepared the environmental impact study, Ingemar Panama, have promoted a false and damaging impression against the reputation of the Audubon Society of Panama. We also deplore the fact that the promoter has irresponsibly used the name of Audubon to promote the project.

The Audubon Society of Panama is and has been a non-governmental conservationist organization for more than 35 years in Panama, promoting the conservation of birds and their important habitats, environmental education, research and community participation.
