"Real art," some would argue, is done without an "undo" key.

Carol Skinner, whose one-woman show begins at the Mery Palma Gallery in the Hotel Caesar Park on September 28, makes the case for the contrary. She takes her original photographs, digitally renders them into electronic paintings and prints them out. It's an art form unto itself and increasingly recognized as such.

Skinner has her own particular style. "I try and create positive images, ones that aren’t full of morbid, depressing imagery and strange things. My hope is that these prints add a little color and  joy to the world!" she says. Describing her arts as "digital photo painting," "Traditional photography and painting techniques are combined using image editing and digital painting software to add further expression to the image," she explained, and then she often goes the next step to create collages. "I combine two or more images from varying sources (photographs, or scans of drawings, paintings, fabric, found objects etc.) into one image. I use layering techniques in image editing and painting software."
